Keys to combine your bow tie
Share
We want to make it simple, 2 rules so that you can combine your bow tie in the best way.
The idea is that you can follow, one or both, depending on the look you want to achieve.
The 2 rules to combine your bow tie or tie are
The first, balance.
There should be balance between the patterns of your shirt, jacket or sweater versus those of the bow tie. For example, if you want to wear your bow tie with a sport shirt with "dogs" on it, your bow tie should keep the same balance and have "sport" motifs; in short, avoid wearing a velvet, shiny, or cashmere one.
If your shirt or jacket is bright colors, also use a bright color on your bow tie or tie.
If, on the other hand, your outfit has neutral colors (gray, blue, white, brown) make your bow tie go in the same line so that it continues to maintain balance.
The second, the contrast
If you wear a bow tie, it should stand out from the rest of your wardrobe.
For example, does your suit have very strong patterns and bright colors? Patterns are a great way to liven up a look, but avoid making your bow tie follow the same line, playing with contrast.
On the contrary, is your outfit composed of a navy blue suit jacket, navy blue pants, a navy blue tie and a navy blue shirt?
So although you have achieved a very balanced look, you need to give it contrast to highlight your bow tie. In the case before, a red, fuchsia, pink, mustard or yellow would look great on you.
Obviously, and depending on the occasion, the lack of contrast "could" be the look you are looking for, with a "total black look" and it is correct, since it meets the rule of balance, but not contrast.
