To ensure that our bow tie is in the correct position, not too big or too small, we must know the proportions of our face.
The trick to do it
Follow these simple steps to get an idea of how the bow tie you've been eyeing for a while will look on you:
- Measure from the outer edge of one eye to the other. The normal thing is to have between 10 to 15 cm from one end to the other.
- Cut out a rectangle of paper with this measurement. The rectangle will be the same length as the distance between the outer corners of your eyes and the width of the rectangle is up to you, depending on the bow tie you want to wear, for example;
- Classic bow ties - 6 cm (like most of ours)
- Large and extra large bow ties - 10cm on large bow ties
- Narrow or cocktail bow ties - 4 cm
- Once you have the rectangle with the length and width you have selected, draw an imaginary line from your nose, vertically to the center of your neck.
- Place the center of the rectangle you just cut at that point and...You now have the measurements of your bow tie!
With this simple trick (Do It Yourself) , you will have a pattern with which you can get an idea of how the bow tie will look on you. And know in advance if it will look very small, very large or very narrow.
And remember, depending on your color, we will always recommend that the length of the bow tie be similar (centimeters above, centimeters below) to the distance from the outer corners of your eyes.
